As Occupy Wall Street flexed its muscle by virtually shutting down Lower Manhattan Thursday, The Daily Beast’s Michelle Goldberg observes a “potentially hazardous” shift in tone. “There seemed to be a volatile new current in the air,” she writes, noting mounting aggression toward police and a lack of consideration for middle-class workers they were inconveniencing. “The implication is that it’s not necessary to engage with those who don't already share the movement’s ideology,” she writes. “This strikes me as unproductive.”
