Almost since its birth, commentators have been asking what’s next for Occupy Wall Street. Al-Jazeera’s Nikolas Kozloff has an idea: embrace the co-op movement. Praising the leaderless nature of the Occupy encampments, Kozloff points to the Park Slope Food Co-Op—where participants volunteer at Brooklyn supermarkets in exchange for deep discounts on groceries—as a model for Occupiers. As Joe Holtz, who holds the ironic title of general manager for the co-op, tells Kozloff, “I think people in America are finally getting to the point where they’re tired of corporations owning everything.”
