Fifteen-year-old Trinity Gay, the daughter of Olympic track and field star Tyson Gay, was killed in a shooting at a restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky on Sunday. Lexington Police say the incident occurred just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, when people in two cars exchanged gunfire and drove off. Gay, apparently caught in the crossfire, was shot in the neck. She was not in either vehicle, police said. Two persons of interest are currently being questioned but police are still looking for other suspects. Several Olympians expressed condolences to Tyson Gay after the tragedy, and USA Track and Field tweeted that their “thoughts and prayers” were with the Olympian after the “senseless” crime. The killing shocked the community and local high school, where Trinity Gay was a rising track and field star in her own right. Fayette County Schools Superintendent Manny Caulk released a statement on Sunday asking people to keep “the Gay family close in thought and prayer” in “this unspeakably difficult time.”
