An investigation has been opened into a fatal police shooting in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night. An officer reportedly shot the suspected driver in a hit-and-run accident shortly after 8 p.m. The suspect, whom police say was wielding a stick when confronted by officers, was pronounced dead at the scene. Capt. Bo Matthews, the public information officer for Oklahoma City police, told reporters late Tuesday that the police officer who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave. Matthews could not confirm reports that the suspect was a deaf man. No further details have been released, but police said they have begun interviewing witnesses.
