The massive Southern California exhibition Pacific Standard Time—which will already include 40 museums and galleries—is about to get even bigger, thanks to more funding from The Getty Trust. The extravaganza will showcase the development of the art scene in the area from 1945 to 1980. Now Getty is helping to fund a performance and public-art festival set to last nine days in January 2012. Organizers want to recreate historic performances like Judy Chicago’s Atmospheres and Mark di Suvero’s 1966 Peace Tower. Getty is also reaching out to many commercial galleries interested in running related shows.
