Two packages "popped" at government buildings in Maryland, a federal official said. One was at the Maryland Department of Transportation headquarters and the other was at the Jeffrey Building in Annapolis. Both packages were sent through the mail and each emitted a flame or small bang when opened, but they didn't contain any explosives, NBC News said. Two people, one a mailroom employee, suffered minor injuries. Mailrooms in Maryland state offices were being quarantined while officials tried to determine if other similar packages had been sent.
