A portrait dating back to 1908 by the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian was stolen early Tuesday morning from the Freriks Museum in Winterswijk, the Netherlands. Police said the thieves forced open the doors and took the painting, which is insured for $28,000. The portrait stands apart from Mondrian’s other abstract work: it’s a naturalist depiction of a young woman.
