Yellowstone National Park officials have killed the baby bison that went viral over the weekend after tourists put it in their van to protect it from what they thought would be deadly cold weather. The family was cited last week for taking the newborn calf to a park facility, where they were warned that removing a calf from its herd can cause the mother to reject them. Once it was abandoned, the lonely calf kept approaching people and cars along the roadway, creating what officials called a safety hazard. After repeated failed attempts to unite the family, the calf had to be euthanized.
