Mike Pence’s plane skidded off the runway in New York on Thursday night, prompting a minor panic but causing no injuries. A Port Authority statement said the plane “overshot” the runway, causing a brief halt for all arrivals and departures from LaGuardia Airport. The GOP vice-presidential nominee was on board with about 30 other people, and a reporter at the scene said he came to talk to all passengers after the scare to make sure everyone on the plane was OK. Pence took to Twitter after the incident, writing, “So thankful everyone on our plane is safe. Grateful for our first responders & the concern & prayers of so many. Back on the trail tomorrow!” Trump reportedly called Pence from his motorcade in Ohio to make sure everything was OK. The Republican presidential nominee then told supporters the plane was “pretty close to grave, grave danger,” but Pence had done a “great job” handling the situation. The incident prompted Pence to cancel a fundraiser in New York City planned for Thursday night.
