General David Petraeus isn’t only booked for a tour of duty in the Middle East: The top general in Iraq and Afghanistan is set to give a series of speeches and receive honors at conservative think tanks and institutions—an honorary doctorate on Wednesday from the Institute of World Politics; the Irving Kristol Award from the American Enterprise Institute on May 6; a speech at a Commentary Magazine dinner on June 1; and a speech at the Hudson Institute later this spring. Petraeus also canceled a speech at the conservative Heritage Foundation last week because of a scheduling conflict. Jeffrey Goldberg has a couple theories: “He’s running for something,” or “He’s a general who just can’t say no.”
