The mother of Philando Castile always told her son to comply with police officers, she said Thursday morning on CNN. “The key thing in order to try to survive being stopped by the police is to comply. Whatever they ask you to do—do it,” Valerie Castile said. “Don’t say nothing. Just do whatever they want you to do. So what’s the difference in complying and you get killed anyway?” Philando Castile, 32, was fatally shot by a police officer late Wednesday near St. Paul, Minnesota. The shooting occurred while his girlfriend and her 4-year-old child were in the car with him.
