Two students pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment charges on Wednesday after being charged with bullying 15-year-old Phoebe Prince of Massachusetts before her suicide last year. Prince, a recent Irish immigrant, hanged herself after months of reported torment by her peers. The two teens, Sean Mulveyhill and Kayla Narey, were facing serious felony charges, including the violation of Prince’s civil rights and causing bodily injury, which carried a potential sentence of 10 years. They each received a year’s probation and 100 hours of community service. Four other students have been charged in the case. Three faced similar charges and will likely receive similar deals when they appear in juvenile court on Thursday. The sixth person, former student Austin Renaud, was charged with statutory rape. His trial is scheduled for July 6.
