Happy New Year, Mr. President! A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll reported Wednesday that more than 50 percent of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing—and Democrats have moved back into everyone’s good graces, leaving the GOP behind. “The last six weeks have been the best six weeks the president has had in his first two years in office,” said Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff. While Democrats, Republicans, and independents alike all revealed an improved opinion of Obama, the GOP didn’t come off so well: 55 percent or respondents said Republicans haven’t been flexible enough in dealing with Obama. But the pollsters warned that Dems shouldn’t celebrate just yet: 56 percent of respondents said they still believe the country’s on the wrong track.
