An epilogue to our “Joe the Plumber” moment: Talking Points Memo flags a new poll from Suffolk University of crucial swing-states and plumbing hotbeds Ohio and Missouri. The poll finds that, of the 68 percent of respondents who recognized "Joe the Plumber," only six percent said he made them more likely to vote for McCain, while four percent said he actually made them more likely to vote for Obama. "It's worth pointing out," Greg Sargent writes, "that McCain's 'Joe the Plumber' gambit isn't just some throwaway one-off gag. It's a central pillar of McCain's closing argument on the economy."
