Haiti’s election results have not gone over well. Angry voters set up barricades and lit fires after government officials announced that there would be a run-off between the current president’s pick Jude Celestin and former first lady Mirlande Manigat. Not in the running is dark horse candidate and carnival singer Michel “Sweet Micky” Martelly, despite trailing Celestin by less than 1 percent, according to officials. Voters seem to have reason to be upset. The European Union-funded election monitoring group says Celestin should have been eliminated, and there have been reports of widespread ballot-stuffing, violence, and intimidation on the November 28 election.
