Freedom House, a human-rights organization, released a report Thursday that press freedom remained relatively stable in 2011. In it, the nonprofit detailed that fewer than 15 percent of the world’s population has access to a free press. Close to 200 countries and territories were assessed, and only 66—or roughly one third—received the rating of “free.” More than 70 countries (36.5 percent) were rated “partly free,” and 59 countries (30 percent) were rated “not free.”
