After 22 seasons and 303 victories, The Big Unit Randy Johnson is retiring from baseball. The 46-year-old, 6’10” southpaw won five Cy Young Awards, threw two no-hitters including a perfect game, and struck out more batters than everyone but Nolan Ryan during his career. He won his only World Series ring in 2001, when, as a pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks, he came out of the bullpen in Game 7 to beat the Yankees and ended up sharing the series’ MVP with teammate Curt Schilling. In his final season, Johnson went 8-6 with a 4.88 ERA in 17 starts and five relief appearances for the San Francisco Giants.
