Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has been dealt a setback in his renewed campaign to win back parts of the country no longer under his control. Loyalist forces, possibly mercenaries from elsewhere in Africa, mounted a fierce assault on the town of al-Brega, an eastern Libyan port on the Mediterranean with key oil and gas facilities, including ground forces and aerial bombardment. But while they were briefly able to capture a key oil facility, rebels counterattacked and drove them back. At least six people were killed.
