The largest wildfire in the history of Los Angeles has burned more than 5,895 acres since it was sparked on Friday, prompting California Gov. Jerry Brown to declare a countywide state of emergency in hopes of beating the blaze. “I hereby order that all agencies of the state government utilize and employ state personnel, equipment, and facilities for the performance of any and all activities consistent with the direction of the Office of Emergency Services and the State Emergency Plan,” Brown said in an official proclamation on Sunday. More than 1,000 firefighters have been tasked with fighting the La Tuna brush fire, which is currently only 10 percent contained.
