Over 300,000 people in Yemen have contracted cholera in Yemen over the past ten weeks, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced Monday. The disease is “spiral[ing] out of control” through the war-torn nation, ICRC officials said. On June 24, when approximately 200,000 people were estimated to have contracted the illness, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak "the worst cholera outbreak in the world.” The outbreak has since spread to another 100,000 people.
