Moderators of the popular online message board Reddit have shut down hundreds of sections in what seems to be a protest to a recently dismissed high-ranking employee. Victoria Taylor, the company’s director of talent, was dismissed on Thursday afternoon and Reddit has failed to give a reason. The firing came after Taylor moderated a Q&A with Reverend Jesse Jackson in which the topic of race quickly escalated. Up to 300 subreddits on topics ranging from technology and art to business were still down early Friday morning as the shutdowns continue to spread. The subreddits are moderated by self-appointed members, not company employees.
