Report: Lisa Bloom Sought to Undermine Weinstein’s Accusers

Attorney Lisa Bloom reportedly sought to undermine the women accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment in an email sent to The Weinstein Company’s board prior to her resignation. Bloom, well-known for representing female accusers in high-profile sexual-harassment and sexual-abuse cases, resigned as an adviser to Weinstein over the weekend after accusations against him mounted. After the initial allegations were made in a New York Times report last Thursday, however, Bloom reportedly sought to undercut Weinstein’s accusers, according to an email obtained and published by The Huffington Post. Calling the Times report a “largely false and defamatory piece,” Bloom promised there would soon be “more and different reporting, highlighting inaccuracies, including photos of several of the accusers in very friendly poses with Harvey after his alleged misconduct.” A day after that email was sent, Bloom said her presence on Weinstein’s team would be beneficial for the accusers, as other defense lawyers might seek to tarnish “their credibility and release negative stories about them to the press,” HuffPost reports.
