A U.S.-led coalition airstrike is reported to have hit a school in ISIS-held territory in Syria, killing 33 civilians, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The London-based monitoring group uses a vast network of on-the-ground contacts to gather information in the aftermath of violence and report it to the rest of the world. The school that was hit had been used to shelter displaced families in northern Syria, in the town of Mansoura. “We can now confirm that 33 people were killed, and they were displaced civilians from Raqqa, Aleppo, and Homs,” said SOHR Director Rami Abdel Rahman on Wednesday. “They’re still pulling bodies out of the rubble until now. Only two people were pulled out alive.”
