And the GOP ishalf way towards claiming victory as the Senate majority with West Virginiabeing turned over to Republican Shelley Moore Capito, Arkansas's Tom Cotton unseatingDemocrat Mark Pryor, and Gov. Mike Rounds claiming formerly Democrat SouthDakota. The party now needs a net gain of three seats to claim ruling over thefloor.
According tothe Associate Press, early results have announced Republicans Mitch McConnellof Kentucky as well as Tim Scott and Lindsay Graham of South Carolina aswinners of their respective states. Republicans have also taken victories inMississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, and Maine, while Democratshold on New Jersey, Rhode Island, Illinois, Michigan, Delaware andMassachusetts. The race is projected to see the Democratic Party losing controlas the Senate majority.
