When Congress rejected President Obama’s jobs bill earlier this month, he used sarcasm to explain his next move. “Maybe they just couldn’t understand the whole thing all at once,” he joked. “So we’re going to break it up into bite-size pieces.” The first of those mini-bills will likely arrive at the Senate on Thursday night, but The Daily Beast’s Michael Tomasky cautions not to get your hopes up. The GOP will block this bill, which funds the hiring of 400,000 teachers nationwide, in yet another example of the party’s opportunistic obstructionism. The twist is that the proposal is actually quite popular, but Republicans oppose it anyway. The reason? "The GOP hates Obama more than it loves America."
