Robert Mugabe, the president of Zimbabwe, railed against what he called the “new” human rights during the United Nations General Assembly on Monday. “Respecting and upholding human rights is the obligation of all states,” the 91-year-old began. But he later went on to that he wasn’t interested in granting rights to everyone. “We equally reject attempts to prescribe new rights that are contrary to our values, norms, traditions, and beliefs,” Mugabe said. “We are not gays.”
