The Newt Gingrich campaign isn't the only one trying to rewrite history. Since Rick Santorum brutally beat Romney in all three of Tuesday’s primary votes, Mitt’s team has been reminding voters that Santorum actually endorsed Romney in 2008. They’ve even published a press release from that year announcing the former senator’s support. Taking a closer look at the press release, BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski noticed that something was missing: praise for Rick Santorum. “I am honored to have Senator Santorum’s support,” read a quote from Romney in the original press release. “Throughout his career of public service, he has always led with a steadfast commitment to our party’s conservative principles. He has fought for life, marriage, tax cuts and a stronger national defense. In the coming days, I look forward to working with him as we fight for our party’s conservative foundations.” The glaring omission from today’s press release suggests the days of Romney praising Santorum are long gone.
