If it weren't for one of Mitt Romney's own campaign chairmen, his biggest competitor would not be allowed on the Illinois GOP primary ballot, likely guaranteeing Mitt a win in the Midwest state's primary. Rick Santorum did not obtain enough signatures to get his delegates on the Illinois ballot, yet Dan Rutherford, Illinois state treasurer and Romney's state chairman, dismissed challenges against Santorum's 30 delegates. Though Santorum is eligible for the primary in only some districts, Illinois is now less than a sure thing for Romney.
