Rick Santorum attempted to clarify yet another controversial remark he made Thursday on CNN, this time saying that he had "concerns" about women serving in combat because of "other types of emotions that are involved," after the Pentagon announced that frontline roles will be available to both sexes. "I think that can be a very compromising situation, where people naturally may do things that may not be in the interests of the mission," he told John King on Thursday, leading many to perceive that he believes women are too emotional. On NBC's Today show, Santorum said he was referring to the emotions of men, not women. "I think men have the emotions when you see a woman in harm’s way," he said, and that there would be a "natural inclination to not focus on the mission but to try to be in a position where you might want to protect someone." Not sure if that explanation is any better.
