Saudi Arabia announced Sunday that King Salman won’t be attending President Barack Obama’s summit on Gulf relations this week. Instead, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, who is also interior minister, would lead the Saudi delegation, and the king’s son and defense minister, Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will also attend, according to the state-run Saudi Press Agency. Saudi officials said the king’s absence is due to an overlap with a five-day humanitarian ceasefire in Yemen, which is slated to begin Tuesday.
