What is it with these MSNBC hosts? Chris Matthews flirted with a Pennsylvania Senate run before re-upping with the cable news network, and now it seems Joe Scarborough is weighing a run of his own in Florida. The Morning Joe host, who once represented Pensacola in Congress, said of a possible 2010 run for the seat of retiring Republican Sen. Mel Martinez: “I haven’t closed it off…I’ve been getting some calls from some fundraisers in Florida.” Scarborough, a Republican, said some senators have given a thumbs-up to his possible Senate bid, but he needs to decide “whether he could have as much influence on public policy as one of 100 senators as he does now on his MSNBC program,” The Herald-Tribune reports. Scarborough, who in 2006 backed off a Senate run, is also waiting to see whether Florida Gov. Charlie Crist throws his hat in the ring for the seat.
