Scientist: Gulf Bottom Still Oily

Will it ever go away? A new investigation shows that the floor of the Gulf of Mexico is still thick with oil from BP’s massive rig explosion—almost ten months after the initial spill. "Magic microbes consumed maybe 10 percent of the total discharge, the rest of it we don't know,” said marine biologist Samantha Joye. “There's a lot of it out there." Joye’s research, in which she took 250 sea floor samples, is in stark contrast to comments on Saturday from the agency in charge of the Gulf region’s ecological health. The head of the agency said she thought that “most of the oil is gone.”
