Scotland Yard Secretive About Phone Hacks

British police have recently become secretive about the contents of News of the World's phone-hacking files related to the case ensnaring former News editor Andy Coulson, who is now media adviser to British Prime Minister David Cameron. Scotland Yard is refusing to release documents and heavily redacting them when judges force them to. Glenn Mulcaire, the paper's private investigator, took notes on public figures' voicemails, and often recorded the name of the senior reporters who requested him to do so. Previously, police gave summaries of the files to public figures who thought they may have been hacked, but police now are refusing to do so unless they have "reasonable grounds" for believing they'd been spied on.
