Hold your H-O-R-S-E-S: Despite several reports in the British papers, the rules of Scrabble will not be changing to allow proper nouns. Slate’s Brow Beat clarifies: Mattel, which owns the Scrabble rights outside of North America, is releasing a new game called Scrabble Trickster. “The game will include cards that allow players to spell words backward, use proper nouns, and steal letters from opponents, among other nontraditional moves,” says Slate. Furthermore, the game won’t even be available in North America, where Hasbro owns the rights to it.
