The Senate Intelligence Committee is reportedly launching an investigation whether Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal were granted inappropriate access to the CIA during filming of the thriller. The film, which tells the story behind the deadly raid that killed Osama bin Laden, has been criticized by some in Washington for its depiction of torture—and the senate panel wants to determine where those descriptions of torture came from. The CIA had no comment on the congressional inquiry, although acting CIA director Mike Morrell has described Zero Dark Thirty as “not a realistic portrayal of the facts.”
