Just a day after the city of Portland, Oregon, filed legal action against Uber citing public-safety concerns, Los Angeles and San Francisco have followed suit. On Tuesday, the district attorneys for both cities accused the ridesharing company of “flagrant and unlawful business practices,” in a joint statement that cited unnecessary fees and misleading statements about drivers’ background checks as examples. The DAs are also targeting Uber’s rival Lyft, which settled similar issues at the last minute by paying $500,000 in fines. Uber’s legal troubles extend to Spain, Thailand, Rio de Janeiro, Delhi, and Nevada.
