Greenpeace protesters suspending themselves from Portland’s St. Johns Bridge weren't enough to stop a Shell Oil icebreaker heading to the Arctic on Thursday to help drill for oil. The MSV Fennica was initially forced to turn around after coming face-to-face with the dangling activists, as well as a flotilla of kayakers. But late Thursday the ship made its move and reportedly passed through a gap between suspended protesters. “There is no Plan B, just as there is no Planet B; we have no intention of moving until President Obama rescinds the permit for Shell to drill in the Arctic,” activist organizer Wysham said in a news release.
Correction 7/30/15: An earlier version of this article misstated the location of the Greenpeace protest; it is in Portland, not Seattle.
