French soccer player Thierry Henry announced his retirement Tuesday after a 20-year professional career. A 1998 World Cup winner, Henry played as a striker for some of the world’s leading clubs, among them Juventus, Arsenal, and Barcelona, before finishing his career with the MLS’s New York Red Bulls. A prolific scorer, he netted 411 goals in 917 games and holds Arsenal’s all-time record. Henry added a number of team honors to his World Cup medal, including the 2009 Champions League title with Barcelona. He will join England’s Sky Sports as a soccer pundit to begin post-retirement life.
