Members of the Somali terrorist group Al Shabab attempted and failed to take the country's presidential palace on Tuesday. The attackers planted a bomb in the back of the compound and then stormed another entrance, getting into the heavily guarded palace and engaging in a gunfight with security guards. A spokesman for the group announced, "We are in control of the headquarters of the apostate regime." But officials say the situation is under control and they attackers are believed to have blown themselves up. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was elsewhere during the attack and was safe.
