Thousands of Somalis gathered in Mogadishu Sunday in a rare demonstration to denounce the radical Islamic militants Al-Shabab for a recent suicide bombing. A bomber working for the Shabab, a group affiliated with al Qaeda, on Tuesday struck a government compound where students had gathered to check exam results and at least 70 students were killed in the attack. The transitional government has been fighting the Shabab militants for years, but there has been little luck in the country that has not had a function government in 20 years and remains crippled by ongoing war and famine. Politicians and civilians joined in the rally, which was organized by the transitional government.
