Amy Pascal, the top Sony Pictures executive exposed by last year’s notorious cyberattack, will step down from her post as co-chairman and launch a new production venture with the studio instead. “I have spent almost my entire professional life at Sony Pictures and I am energized to be starting this new chapter based at the company I call home,” Pascal said in a statement Thursday. Leaked emails between Pascal and producer Scott Rudin revealed nasty comments about Angelina Jolie (he called her a “minimally talented spoiled brat”) and jokes about President Obama preferring movies about black people (“Should I ask him if he liked DJANGO?…Or The Butler. Or Think Like a Man?” Pascal joked.) Pascal is expected to transition to her new role in May.
