A top producer and the movie chief at Sony Pictures Entertainment are now apologizing for the racially tinged emails about President Obama that hackers posted online. “To anybody I’ve offended, I’m profoundly and deeply sorry, and I regret and apologize for any injury they might have caused,” the film producer Scott Rudin said in a statement. Amy Pascal, Sony’s co-chairwoman, who was also featured in the emails, issued her own statement, claiming, “The content of my emails to Scott were insensitive and inappropriate but are not an accurate reflection of who I am. Although this was a private communication that was stolen, I accept full responsibility for what I wrote and apologize to everyone who was offended.” The emails between the two joked about whether or not Obama would like Django Unchained, 12 Years a Slave, and bets that the president would like the comedian Kevin Hart. The leaked emails also contain juicy bits like comparisons between David Fincher and Hitler, a spat with Judd Apatow, George Clooney’s war with Rupert Murdoch, and rumors that Aaron Sorkin is broke.
