South Korea’s government announced on Thursday it fined Volkswagen $12.3 million and ordered recalls for 125,522 diesel vehicles after it discovered the automaker cheated on emissions tests. Hong Dong Gon, a director at the Ministry of Environment, said officials would continue investigating 30,000 other VW diesel cars, which did show proof of emissions rigging. The announcement comes after the embattled German automaker admitted last month that it cheated on U.S. tests. “We will take necessary measures based on legal procedures and requirements under the relevant laws and regulations,” Volkswagen said in a statement.
