What a nail-biter. After a scoreless game, the Dutch and the Spaniards will duke it out in overtime. The Netherlands’ Arjen Robben had the best chance of the game with 30 minutes remaining when he found himself through on goal, only to be denied by the lucky foot of Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas. Instead the scrappy, physical game remained scoreless. Spain will argue that Holland should have been reduced to 10 men after Nigel De Jong’s high boot wound up on Xabi Alonso’s chest. The referee, however, only deemed it worthy of one of the seven yellow cards he has dished out so far. Spain’s best opportunity now seems a long time ago. Sergio Ramos’s header drew an excellent diving save from Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg in the fifth minute.
