The new documentary that many believe will help rehabilitate former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer’s career premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday; however, Spitzer wasn’t there to enjoy it. Perhaps he was too busy firing shots at the man who succeeded him as attorney general and whom many believe will be the next governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo. In an interview with The New York Times, Spitzer questions both Cuomo’s record as attorney general and his resolve when it comes to taking on Wall Street. Meanwhile, the untitled film is only “mostly finished,” according to its director; the documentary includes interviews with Spitzer, the CEO of the escort service he frequented, and some of his political rivals. Ashley Dupre does not feature in; the director says she refused to participate after he would not give her editorial control.
