Emmy winner Stephen J. Cannell died on Thursday night from complications related to melanoma. The 69-year-old producer was largely lauded as a writer-producer for such shows as 21 Jump Street, The A-Team, and The Rockford Files. Cannell was also an actor, having appeared most lately on ABC's Castle. In his later life, he took his writing talents from television to novels. According to a statement released to Entertainment Tonight by his family, Cannell died while at home, "surrounded by his family and loved ones." He is survived by his wife, their three children, and three grandchildren.
