A suicide bomber on motorcycle rammed a police checkpoint in northwestern Pakistan and detonated, leaving at least 11 people dead and injured about 20 others Tuesday, local officials said. Among the dead were five police, a local TV reporter, and a child. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, with an insurgent commander telling Reuters it was revenge for the deaths of its fighters who were recently killed while in government custody. Heavy clashes between security forces and Pakistani Taliban have gripped the region, since the December 2014 attack on an army-run school left 150 dead, mostly children.
