The main United Nations compound in Western Afghanistan came under attack on Saturday. Two suicide bombers blew themselves up outside and more insurgents worked their way inside the building. There were no immediate reports of casualties. "It appears to be a complex attack, but we are not sure at this stage whether the incident has stopped or is still ongoing," said a U.N. spokesman in Kabul. The compound is located in Herat City, a commercial hub that is not usually a center for Taliban activity. A local Taliban commander has already claimed responsibility for the attack.
