The insertion of super PACs into the American electoral system has had much more than a financial effect, it seems. According to a new Brennan Center of Justice poll, one in four Americans thinks the 2012 candidates are more interested in appeasing super PAC donors than voters—making them less likely to participate in the election. “Unlimited spending by supposedly independent super PACs is creating widespread perception of corruption and undermining public confidence that elected officials serve in the public interest,” said the senior council for the center’s democracy program.
