The Supreme Court issued an emergency order late Tuesday blocking the Environmental Protection Agency from moving forward on an effort to reduce carbon emissions from power plants by 32 percent. The reduction would have hopefully been accomplished by 2030. The order from the Supreme Court, issued after a 5-4 vote, suggests that a majority has doubts about the legality of the proposed EPA measure, as it is uncommon for the court to get involved in an instance like this.
